"He can't if you're here," Severus said. "Hogwarts is safe." He knew that the moment he saw the train five years ago...even if Sirius and James had made his stay here sometimes rather miserable. It was worth it, anything was worth it, to get away from his parents.

Severus wasn't good at pep talks. He didn't know how to even tell Remus how he felt on most occasions. It was the essence of most of their fights even. Perhaps it was better just to stay silent, match up their scars...

Was it safe to stay here tonight? Probably not. Sirius would track Remus down before too long, just as he always seemed to do.
