This was certainly true. Severus did not have the luxury of trust, not even with Remus. They had been so rocky at the start, though that would hopefully ease up. The Slytherin had a taste of affection now. He'd surely find it easier to claim more, and certainly to expect more. Perhaps it would also still his temper.

Only time would tell.

Two hours into his slumber, Severus squirmed around in Remus's arms. Being held was brand new for him and as he was coming out of sleep, the sensation pulled a nightmare from his mind. He came too struggling and gasping, though the moment he saw Remus gazing down at him, pale arms circled around his neck and, delightfully uncharacteristic, he pressed a whimpering kiss to his lips.

"I'd thought you'd gone."
